PGLU, GOV. RAFY RECEIVES P42.9M ASSISTANCE FOR FARMERS, FISHERFOLKS AFFECTED BY EL NIÑO

106 KaProbinsyanihan agrarian reform beneficiaries free from mortgage

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

A total of 106 La Union agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) will be free from debt for over 100 hectares of land as Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David personally attended the signing and distribution of the Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (CoCRoM) sparing ARBs from paying mortgages on July 19, 2024 at Narciso Ramos Gymnasium, Lingayen, Pangasinan. Gov. Rafy also received a check worth Php42.9M as grant of Special Financial Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolks, and Other Families affected by El Niño. 4,290 farmers, fishers, livestock and poultry owners affected by El Niño will receive Php10,000 each.

These KaPROBINSYAnihan beneficiaries form part in the total of 64,241 ARBs from Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon Regions who were spared by the government from paying a total of almost 4,360hectares of land mortgage following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s signing of the CoCRoM. The Department of Agrarian Reform led the first ever CoCRoM distribution of the certificates by virtue of Republic Act 11953 or the New Agrarian
Emancipation Act that condones all unpaid outstanding loans, amortizations, interests, penalties, and surcharges associated with the allocation of lands under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

“Ang pamamahagi ngayong araw ng mga CoCRoM na ito ay isang mahalagang hakbang pasulong sa ating paglalakbay tungo sa hustisyang agraryo. Kaisa ninyo kami sa inyong mga hangarin, at kami ay tapat sa pangakong suportahan at palakasin kayo sa bawat hakbang ng inyong paglalakbay,” President Marcos said. Also in attendance to the event were Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Sharon Viloria, Provincial Veterinarian Domingo Bobby Calub, Provincial Treasurer Janet Molina, and La Union ARBs. The assistance received and the condonation forwards La Union’s journey to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 by alleviating the challenges faced by the agricultural sector.
