PGLU TURNOVER EMERGENCY VEHICLES BALAOAN BARANGAYS

With the Provincial Government of La Union’s continuous effort to capacitate each component Local Government Unit of the province in providing quick and efficient services in their jurisdictions, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III led the turning over of a total of 36 units of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV) to each barangay of Balaoan on December 6, 2021.
With the recent onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Maring in Ilocos Region in October 2021 where the entire La Union was placed under the State of Calamity, Balaoan was among the identified hardly hit towns in the province. With the significant number of recorded damages of the town, the PGLU saw the need of emergency vehicles for quick response and unhampered provision of services to the Balaoanians especially during this time of pandemic.
Gov. Pacoy Ortega, together with Ms. Rafy Ortega- David, turned over the MPVs to the Barangay Chairpersons who gratefully received all
pertinent documents needed for the donation and use of said vehicles.
Balaoan Mayor Aleli Concepcion and Vice Mayor Carlo Concepcion witnessed the turning over activity and expressed their gratitude to PGLU for the provision of vehicles that would cater the emergency needs of their constituents and to further capacitate first responders especially in the barangay level.
The donation of MPVs to barangays in Balaoan is in adherence to the Local Government Code of 199 which states that the conditional donation of multicab vehicles aims to enhance the maintenance of peace and order and the provision of immediate medical attention and/or rescue in times of emergencies to the constituents of the barangays.
