PHILHEALTH ROLES OUT P66.5-M FUND TO BAGUIO PRIMARY HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS

Some P66.5 million Capitation Fund has been allocated by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to hasten primary health care for almost half a million (455,685) members and their dependents in the Summer Capital. The amount is intended for konsulta services from July 2023 to June 2024. As this developed, PhilHealth Regional Vice President Dr. Dominga Gadgad strongly urged their members and their dependents to avail the health services dubbed PhilHealth’s Konsulta following the Universal Health Care (UHC) law.

Dr. Gadgad, who reported that PhilHealth -Cordillera is performing well, led other top regional PhilHealth officials in presenting their health care program and other services in recent press conference held at Orchard Hotel here. Philhealth said ‘the ball is in the hands of the primary
provider network of the city to fast track and ensure that members undergo first patient encounter and perform konsulta services… as basis of the frontloaded capitation fund given to the city.’

In fact, a check worth P15,976,299.15 was awarded on Dec. 1 (2023) to the city government of Baguio,as the First Tranche of Frontloaded Capitation Fund to the Baguio City Primary Care Provider Network Konsulta Sandbox. To avail this primary health care service (PhilHealth Konsulta), members and their dependents are adviced to register online or personally present themselves to city’s 16 health district centers, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), and at Porta Vaga.

Health screening, laboratory examination and selected medicines topped the health package, according to Dr. Glenn Cornelio Lamsis,Chief Health Care Delivery Management Division. Other developments, lawyer Eric Madiit, Head , Legal Division reported that cases of ‘illegal acts’ by member health providers and health professionals have decreased from 482 in (2019) to 33 to the
present (2023). Regional collections of PhilHealth premiums posted at P833.935 million an increase of 32 percent.
