ATOK, Benguet
The highly anticipated HEALTHIER Benguet Caravan, originally scheduled for Friday, July 26, in Sayangan, Atok, was postponed due to inclement weather and multiple road closures triggered by Typhoon “Carina.” For the safety of the community and service providers, the event was rescheduled and successfully held on August 14, 2024. A key highlight of the rescheduled event was the active participation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Benguet province.
PhilSys played a crucial role in bringing identification services directly to the people of Atok. During the event, 14 individuals completed step 2 registration, 18 received their national ID in printed form, and 6 availed of the updating of demographics service. The involvement of PhilSys significantly contributed to the success of the caravan, ensuring that residents not only benefited from medical services but also gained access to vital identification services.
This effort aligns with the ongoing commitment to make essential government services more accessible to communities in remote areas. The caravan’s success is a testament to the resilience and cooperation of the Benguet
community and the dedication of the participating agencies. Despite the earlier challenges, the event achieved its goal of bringing vital health and identification services to the people of Atok.
