CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO

Police Regional Office 1 has apprehended 24 gun ban violators and confiscated 22 firearms in several police operations regionwide since the implementation of the nationwide COMELEC gun ban last August 28 up to present. PRO1 Regional Director Brig.Gen. John Chua, stressed that these accomplishments are just a part of PRO1’s intensified police operations to ensure the public that Region 1 police are serious in its campaign, particularly in hauling loose and unregistered firearms that could be used during the election period.

This is complemented by the extensive information campaign on loose firearms that resulted in the surrender and deposit of 332 assorted firearms by their owners to authorities for safekeeping. “I ordered our operatives on the ground to intensify police operations against loose and unregistered firearms especially that the election is fast approaching,” Chua said. “We also ensure that our
police remain apolitical and nonpartisan. To facilitate an honest, safe and honest election, I have ordered the reassignment of 611 PRO1 personnel with relatives vying for a political post,” he averred.
