PSA calls for cooperation on migration survey

BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office in the Cordillera (RSSO-CAR) enjoins the support and cooperation of the sample households in the conduct of the National Migration Survey (NMS).
Field interviewers were assigned to sample areas in the six Cordillera provinces, including Baguio City, to do house to house visit from June to August 2018.
The NMS is the survey on migration in the Philippines implemented by the PSA in collaboration with the University of the Philippines (UP) System through the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI).
A total of 45,000 households nationwide were selected as samples for the survey, with around 2,522 sample households and individuals from the Cordillera region.
The NMS aims to provide a nationally representative baseline data on migration in the country. The survey will collect data on internal and international migration which will used to estimate international and inter-regional migration flows and major migration streams, examine different types of migration and characteristics of migrants, determine levels, patterns, and processes of migration, and identify factors that affect levels, patterns, and processes of migration.
The survey will utilize a Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) in the data collection. The information generated from the survey will provide policy makers and program managers in formulating policies on migration, and evaluating and designing strategies for improving services and assistance to people migrating locally and internationally.
