Pulis sumuko sa pagpaslang sa bise mayor ng Balaoan

CAMP OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union – Personal na sumuko ang isang opisyal ng pulisya na kinasuhan sa pag-ambus kay Balaoan Vice Mayor Al-fred Concepcion noong Nobyembre 2018, ayon sa ulat ng Police Regional Office-1 (PRO1).
Kinilala ni Police Brig. Gen. Rodolfo S Azurin Jr., regional director, ang sumuko na si P/ Master Sergeant Dario Naval Cahigas, nakatalaga sa Regional Police Holding Assistance Service, matapos ipalabas ang warrant of arrest na inisyu ng Balaoan Regional Trial Court noong Agosto 17, sa kasong two counts of murder, and four counts of attempted murder.
“He will undergo judicial proceedings and shall serve the penalty prescribed by the law if proven guilty. We will not tolerate any form of misconduct in the rank and file. We will make sure that the rules will be implemented squarely,” ayon kay Azurin.
Matatandaan, noong Nobyembre 14, 2018, si Concepcion, kasama ang escort ay napatay sa ambush habang ang convoy ni Balaoan Mayor Aleli Concepcion, ay patungo sa municipal hall. Tadtad ng mga bala ng baril ang dalawang sasakyan ng Alkalde habang papadaan sa may Luna Road, Barangay Cabuaan, Balaoan, La Union.
Namatay on the spot ang Bise-Alkalde at escort nito, samantalang walo pang katao ang sugatan. Samatala, natuwa naman si Alkalde Concepcion sa pagsuko nito upang mapabilis ang paglutas sa krimen na eto naman ang dahilan ng pagkamatay ng bise alkalde na kanyang asawa.
Sa isang opisyal na mensahe mula sa kanyang tanggapan, ang alkalde ay nagsabing: “637 days after our ambush, last August 12, 2020, a case for double murder (for the murder of Atty. Al-Fred Concepcion and Mike Ulep) and 4 counts of attempted murder have been filed against SPO1 Dario Cahigas and several John Does before the RTC Balaoan. Today, August 17, 2020, Cahigas voluntarily surrendered”.
“This is a welcome development. I hope and pray that Cahigas divulges what he knows about our ambush and reveals the identity of his coconspirators for his own peace of mind,” anya pa niya. “I reiterate that there is a standing reward of 10 Million Pesos for anyone who can provide vital and verifiable information as to the identity of the other perpetrators and ultimately, the masterminds behind our ambush”.
Dagdag pa niya: “The road to justice is still a long way to go but for my fellow Balaoanians, I will not give up the fight! Daddy paid the ultimate price last November 14, 2018 because he believed that Balaoanians are worth fighting for. I promise that his sacrifice will not be in vain and I will make sure that those responsible will be brought to justice.”
