“The commissioning of the 10 MVA transformer is part of the plan to improve power reliability and to be prepared for the future impact of coming businesses and establishments into BENECO’s franchise areas in the next coming years.
The 10 MVA transformer was initially energized at no load last September 4, 2020. The transformer was transported from the Irisan substation some years back.
The enegization and now its commissioning is part of BENECO’s plan of maintaining the reliability and quality of power within areas to be supplied by the transformer.
The upgrading of this substation is also the plan of the Network Services and Power Generation Department for the operations of the Man-asok minihydro will need a synchronizing station.
Moreover, the 10 MVA transformer will help solve the occurrence of low voltages within the areas supplied by the Mankayan and Atok substation.
This project is also in relation to BENECO’s plan to standardize its system voltage to 23 kc system which is most appropriate based on engineering studies.”
