SHAGGCLAI CLEAN UP DRIVE: ..Bayanihan Spirit. Pocket miners and their families of Saddle Hartwell Goldcoin Goldhill Community Livelihood Association, Inc. (SHAGGCLAI) sustains clean up drive in Sitios Saddle Hartwell and Lumbag, Barangay Ampucao, Itogon. Some members of youth and women sectors including some local coffee growers participated in the activity. SHAGGCLAI officials Noli Pal-ay and Mike Banite led the group’s one day activity held on July 20.

Dozens of pocket miners from Saddle Hartwell Goldcoin Goldhill Community Livelihood Association, Inc (SHAGGCLAI) including some members of their families on July 20 conducted a clean-up drive. SHAGGLA I ‘ s
environmental activity was held along the three-kilometer mountain, narrow and zigzagging stretch of Sitios Saddle, Hartwell and Lumbag of Barangay Ampucao this mining community.

As early as six o’clock in the morning , local pocket miners, women begun scaling the various sections of the mountain, cutting wild plants and branches which blocks eye view in negotiating the steep barangay roads, especially on sharp blind curves and the scenic view of the mining community. A number of pocket miners were also spread in various areas,cleaning esteros and canals. Notably, some pocket miners’ sons and daughters , ages range from 7-12
participated in the one-day clean-up activity.

Some were seen distributing drinking water to quence thirst of hard working local pocket miners. The group’s clean-up drive is timely for learners’ safety for this school year, and also for residents who commute for their daily needs and sustainance, and workplace.
