TEMPORARY PARKING AREA OPENS AT BCHS ON PEAK DAYS

BAGUIO CITY

To help ease the growing parking problem in the city, the Baguio City High School campus will soon open its parking area to the public
during weekends and holidays. This move follows a resolution approved by the City Council on May 5, 2025 allowing Mayor Benjamin
Magalong to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with BCHS Principal Whitney Dawayen. Around 60 parking slots will be made
available for public use, excluding those reserved for school staff. Since the school is not allowed to earn revenue independently, the partnership with the city government was necessary.

Based on the agreement, 85% of the parking fee collection will go to BCHS to support its school programs, while the remaining 15% will be allocated to the city for traffic management initiatives. Dawayen mentioned that during days when students are required to attend make-up classes, parking access may be restricted to give way to school activities. A comfort room will also be accessible for visitors using the facility. Funds from the parking fees will also be used to install CCTV cameras and improve the parking space. Standard parking tickets will be issued in compliance with local ordinances. The MOA will still need to be confirmed by the council before implementation.
