THE SILVER GALA

Part of the Ballet Manila’s 25th Anniversary Season held at CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center last October 29, 2023. The performance is divided in two parts, wherein the first part
features “LA TRAVIATA,” a tragic opera by Guiseppe Verdi, interpreted by Lisa Macuja Elizalde through her choreography. The ballet features real-life husband and wife Abigail Oliveiro as Violetta, the Parisian courtesan and Mark Sumaylo as Alfredo, a young nobleman.

The second part of the performance is a spectacular display of various Classical Contemporary Pieces choreographed by Jacquelline Go Ramon, Bam Damian, Tony Fabella, Martin Lawrance. The pieces are performed by the students and teachers from Ballet Baguio, Shaira Comeros, Joshua Enciso, Sean Pelegrin, and Ballet Manila. Ballet Manila is classical ballet institution and dance company in the Philippines that currently higlights more than fifty highly trained dancers in the highly rigorous Russian (Vaganova) method of classical ballet.

It’s CEO and Artistic Director is Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja Elizalde. Ballet Baguio was founded in 2003 and celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, led by Jacqueline Go Ramon, who also studied at Ballet Manila. “The Silver Gala” is produced by Ballet Manila and the Manila Broadcasting Corporation in cooperation with the city of Baguio and in partnership with the Manor and Ballet Baguio.
