Three held at Kalinga checkpoint for almost .5M cannabis in tubes

BAGUIO CITY (June 7, 2022) – A female factory worker, a visual analyst and a surf instructor were held at a checkpoint in Lubuagan, Kalinga Monday afternoon for trying to smuggle out almost half a million worth of dried marijuana leaves already semi-processed in tubular forms.
Policemen flagged down factory worker Dawn Marie Martinez Agudo, 32, from Sitio Ruhat 4, Masbate; visuall artist Hesus Sandino Oñate Laygo, 27, from Damong Maliit St, Magkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Q.C; and surf instructor Andrain De Guzman Rodrigues, 33, from Block 4 lot 6 Phase 1, Aningway Sacatihan, Subic, Zambales and seized from them four marijuana leaves in tubes weighing 4,000 grams valued at Php480,000.00; a marijuana stalk weighing 2.5 grams valued at Php300.00; and two grinders containing marijuana residue.
Policemen claimed to have been tipped of the marijuana smuggling try from Tinglayan to Tabuk City, Kalinga using a red violet Checrolet sedan w/ Plate No. ASA 8948.
Upon reaching the pitched checkpoint, the drug sniffing dog of the police noticed the marijuana stash leading to the arrest of the trio.
Also on Monday night, policemen with PDEA agents caught construction worker Badilio Tuguinay Tacio, 52, from Impugong, Tinoc, Ifugao and Analyn Cabaltera Belita, 29, from Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, in a sting operation in Kiangan town in Ifugao.
The duo sold a white transparent plastic bag containing fresh marijuana leaves weighing 0.380 grams valued at Php 45.60; another transparent plastic bag containing dried marijuana leaves weighing 0.110 grams valued at Php13.20; another white plastic bag containing dried marijuana leaves weighing 0.250 grams valued at Php30.00; and a blue plastic bag containing dried marijuana leaves weighing 0.07 grams valued at Php8.40 to an undercover agent prompting their arrest.
