Trike driver dies in a tricycle-van collission in La Union

BAGUIO CITY (May 18, 2022)—- A tricycle driver was declared dead-on-arrival at a hospital moments after the tricycle he was driving rammed head-to-head into an L300 Mitsubishi van Tuesday evening along the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion, Aringay, La Union.

Aringay police identified the victim as Roel Yaranon, 38, from barangay Poblacion of that town.

The driver of the van was identified as Rodolfo Solomon ,38, from Barangay Asan Norte Sison, Pangasinan.

The police reported that at around 6:30 PM Tuesday, Yaranon lost control of his tricycle and spinned on the road before colliding with the approaching van.

Because of the strong impact, the motorcycle was detached from the sidecar and Yaranon was thrown a few meters on the ground.

The victim was rushed to the La Union Medical Center idiay Agoo, La Union but did not make it because of multiple and fatal injuries.

The driver of the van was unhurt.
