TUV Rheinland maintains LCMC’s ISO 14001 Certification

TUV Rheinland, Philippines Incorporated has affirmed the company’s zero non-conformance during the ISO audit conducted on March 22-24, 2017 covering its Corporate Office in Makati City, Lepanto Warehouse in Malolos, Bulacan and Lepanto Mine Division in Mankayan, Benguet.
“We are pleased to advise that, following TUV Rheinland Philippines’ audit of the Environmental Management System of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company on 22-24 March 2017, it has been recommended that the ISO 14001 certification of Lepanto dated 12 May 2016 be maintained,” LCMC stated in its disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.
In the audit findings, TUV Rheinland highly commended LCMC management’s commitment for continual improvement. TUV also lauded the company’s efforts in waste management with the installation and maintenance of its very own Engineered Sanitary Landfill inside the mine site. The audit report also commended the company’s continuous effort in electricity and water management.
“The zero non-conformance finding affirms that we stay true to our vision of being a world-class Filipino mining company committed to responsible and sustainable mining. We remain true to our commitment to the community and the environment,” remarked LCMC President and Chief Operating Officer Bryan U. Yap.
The ISO 14001 certification initiative was led by the EMS Team headed by the Vice President-HRAD and Overall Environmental Management Representative (EMR) Knestor Jose Y. Godino, Vice President and Resident Manager/LMD-EMR Engr. Thomas S. Consolacion, MEPED Manager/Deputy EMR Rolando C. Reyes. The Environmental Management Representatives were assisted by the EMS committee members, document controllers, internal auditors, training and awareness team, environmental emergency response team members, pollution control officers, top management and all members of the organization.
The ISO certificate was first issued on May 12, 2016 to LCMC, affirming the company’s commitment to become a socially responsible mining company through environmental stewardship. The certification is valid until September 14, 2018. PR / ABN
