Two Rebel Militias Surrender In Isabela

BAGUIO CITY (July 19, 2020) –Two communist rebels and two more rebel militias surrendered to government forces in Isabela before the weekend.

“Ka Romeo” and “Ka Felix”, both NPA regulars; and “Ka Hector” and “Ka Stihl”, both Militia ng Bayan or part-time rebels, all under the Central Front Committee of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley turned themselves in at San Mariano town in Isabela after five years in the underground rebel movement.

Philippine Army troopers from the 95th Infantry Battallion together with San Mariano town police helped the four to surrender, said Brig. Gen. Laurence Mina, acting commander of the 5th Infantry  Division of the Philippines Army.

Mina aside from welcoming the four vowed they will receive benefits from the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The military official called on to others who have yet to realize that the rebel movement has been threading a wrong ideology, to head back down from the hills.  “Hinihikayat namin kayong mamuhay sa diwa ng tunay na kapayapaan kasama ng inyong pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay” Mina said.

The rebel movement in Cagayan Valley have since been thinning through the years, government forces said.
