Two students die as jeep plunges into Benguet ravine

BAGUIO CITY (June 8, 2022) – Two students died before reaching the hospital they rushed into after the jeepney they were on board plunges into a 10-meter ravine at Lower Tomay, Bahong, La Trinidad, Benguet early Wednesday morning.

The fatalities were identified as Rolly Quintino, 24; and Cedric Wasit, 25.   A third victim— Alzimer Anton Menes — survived but sustained multiple injuries.  They are all residents of  Barangay Palew, Tublay, Benguet.

According to the Traffic Investigation and Management Enforcement Section of the La Trinidad police, the three came from La Trinidad and were heading home to Barangay Palew, Tublay but when they reached the vicinity of Lower Tomay, Wasit, who was the driver, lost control of the vehicle.

The jeep hit a riprap wall before it went to the directly to the edge of the road and fell into the ravine.

The victims were rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH).  Quintino and Wasit were declared DOA.  Menes is now in a stable condition.
