Vaccinees respond to national vaxx day in Baguio, Benguet

BAGUIO CITY(November 29, 2021) –  Baguio residents thronged to designated jab centers Monday, the first day of the “Bayanihan Bakunahan” (National Vaccination Days) to join in the nationwide bid to achieve total herd immunity in Baguio.
Adult residents who are receiving their first dose occupied seats and patiently waited for their turns in their barangay vaccination centers and in major establishments and hospitals in the city.
The three big vaccination sites — Baguio Country Club, SM and SLU —  were at their full capacity as vaccinees started to arrive even early in the morning, some even two hours before breakfast.
Even students, who are having their online classes, queued with their class modules and answered them while waiting for their turns.
According to the Baguio City government, 95% of its adult population has already been vaccinated while the pediatric category is at 56%.
While in Benguet,  Benguet governor Melchor Diclas together with Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, DOH-Cordillera assistant regional director led the launch of the three-day national vaccination effort at the La Trinidad public market along Kilometer 5 in the capital town.
Benguet is targetting to have more than 79,000 vaccinated during the 3-day event.   The Benguet Provincial Health Office (PHO) said they are taking advantage of the three-day immunization program to achieve its target 70% eligible population.
