Waste-To-Energy MOU Signed

Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Philippine National Oil Company Renewables Corporation President and CEO John Arenas sign Memorandum of Understanding formalizing the joint commitment to find solutions to Baguio City’s garbage problem through the conduct of a detailed feasibility study of a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) facility on August 30, 2019.
WTE is a widely-used technology to treat municipal waste while providing a stable source of electricity in other developed countries such as Japan and Germany. The study aims to determine if WTE is applicable in the local setting and what technology or set of technologies would be appropriate in the city.
