11,214 Trees planted by PROCOR cops

Aside from the successful forest patrols of the different units of Police Regional Office Cordillera, as part of the PNP’s Organizational Core Values “Makakalikasan”, team PROCOR has conducted various tree planting activities in line with the directive of the Chief PNP dubbed as “Plant a Tree Program: The PNP’s New Normal of Disaster Preparedness and Response.”
The PROCOR Regional Headquarters, through the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN R’WIN PAGKALINAWAN, led the activity with a ceremonial tree planting wherein a total of 100 coffee and 50 lemon seedlings were planted in the different planting sites in Camp Major Bado Dangwa, in La Trinidad, Benguet.
For February 2021, the different units of PROCOR have already planted a total of 11,214 trees in the Cordillera Region. Ifugao Police Provincial Office (PPO) leads with the greatest number of planted trees at 4,902 followed by Benguet PPO with 1,897 trees, Baguio City Police Office with 1,634, Apayao PPO with 900, Abra PPO with 676, Kalinga PPO with 515, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 with 350, Mountain Province PPO with 190, and the Regional Headquarters with 150.
The “Plant a Tree Program” is a directive of PNP Chief PGEN DEBOLD M SINAS that aims to conduct sustainable tree planting activities in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Local Government Units (LGUs). This directive also requires every PNP personnel to plant at least 10 seedlings every semester either fruit or non-fruit bearing species that are indigenous/endemic in their area.
With the current strength of PROCOR, the goal is to plant 66,160 trees for the first semester of 2021. As of the present time, PROCOR has already reached 16.95% of its goal. This program is in support to the programs of the government in the protection and preservation of the environment and natural resources, and in disaster response and management.
