1ST FRIENDSHIP VOLLEY TILT FOR NON-COMPETITIVE SPIKERS SET

BAGUIO CITY

Definitely, it is a go this weekend for the 1st Baguio Friendship Volleyball Tournament at the Baguio athletic bowl.
“We will just start this and hopefully it will grow from then,” said city sports development officer Paul Rillorta as he hopes to see aspiring volleyball players have a venue to showcase their talents. Rillorta said that while the top volleyball players start their wars in the Baguio Benguet Educational Athletic League, those who failed joining their
varsity teams may have their own league at the Baguio athletic bowl on April 6 and 7 and on the 27th and 28 for the
finals.

Rillorta said that they expect to see spikers who visit the bowl at a regular basis have enlisted to the event which coach and referee Nester Capuyan will tournament direct. “This is the opening salvo and we expect more players and
team in the next stagings,” said Rillorta who added that there are a number of groups seeking permission from their office to play at the three volleyball courts. Rillorta said that a number of aspiring spikers register at their office to be allowed to play. Some of them have actually banded together and wrote their office as one to get the permit.

And the group they formed are now their respective teams they enlisted in the two day, single round robin tournament, which is open to women and men, he added. Rillorta said that each team could have 12 members and must pay the PHP2,500 entry fee. Cash, trophies and medals to the mythical six in both division are up for grabs.
“These are the who failed to join their varsity team, so they are here at almost every day,” he said.
