20 schools in CAR to pilot face to face classes on Nov. 29

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – At least 20 schools in the Cordillera region will be participating in the pilot implementation of the limited face-to-face classes starting on Monday, November 29.
“Of the more than a hundred schools that submitted their intention to take part of the limited face-to-face classes, we selected 20 schools that the fully compliant of the strict guidelines,” Department of Education – Cordillera Regional Director Dr. Estella Carino said in a press briefing during the launching of the Project HyTEQ or Hybrid Learning using Technology with Equity and Quality (HyTEQ) in Sagubo, Kapangan, Benguet last November 24.
Carino said these schools for the pilot implementation passed the safety and readiness assessment of the Department and adhere to the strict joint guidelines set by DepEd and the Department of Health and other protocols of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and other organizations specializing in children’s health.
Mountain Province has the highest number of participating schools with nine schools, followed by Tabuk City with three schools, and two each from Abra, Benguet, Ifugao and Kalinga. No school in Baguio City and Apayao is participating in this pilot testing.
Participating schools in Mountain Province are Maketan Elementary School(ES), Cagubatan ES, Masla ES, Dacudac ES, and Lubon National High School, all in Tadian; Gonogon ES and Dalican ES,l both in Bontoc; Monamon Proper ES in Bauko and Gayang ES in Sabangan.
In Kalinga, the three schools are in Tabuk City namely the San Pablo Integrated School, Toppan Integrated School, and the Guilayon ES.
Other schools are the Liyang ES in Tanudan and Bonnong ES in Pinukpuk.
In Benguet, participating schools are Ja’pa ES and the Naguey ES both in Atok. In Ifugao are the Asipulo National High School and the Haliap ES in Asipulo; and in Abra are the Dalit NHS in Pilar and Mabungtot ES in Langiden. School children to participate in the face to face are Kinder to Grade 3 for the primary and senior high school for the secondary.
The class will be limited based on the capacity of the classrooms, mostly 10 at a time for at least three hours per class.
Carino stressed that all the schools identified are under Minimal Risk Areas and have secured concurrence from their respective local government units and have accomplished their School Safety Assessment Tool that include readiness of the physical arrangements and facilities such as washing areas, comfort rooms, separate entry and exit of classrooms, among others.
Teachers and non-teaching personnel of the schools for the limited face-to-face should have been vaccinated.
The DepEd is hoping for a successful pilot implementation of the limited face-to-face classes for the full implementation of the face-to-face classes by January 2022.
