2,335 Displaced Workers In Benguet Get Gov’t Assistance

La Trinidad, Benguet (May 26, 2021) – Some 2,335 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in Benguet already received their payouts from the government.
In a pay-out schedule from May 19–21, Benguet legislative caretaker and ACT CIS partylist representative Eric Go Yap who facilitated the payout for the first batch of beneficiaries in seven Benguet towns said, Buguias town had the most beneficiaries with 500, Kabayan with 465, Mankayan with 430, 360 in Bokod, 290 each in Atok and Tublay, and 255 in Bakun.
At least 35 beneficiaries were allotted per barangay in the 13 towns in the province to make sure all equitable distribution of financial aid for displaced workers.
“This is just the first batch for this year,” Yap said, explaining that last year, at least 25,000 beneficiaries received cash assistance amounting to P125 million funded thru the initiative of Yap.
This week, 3,000 beneficiaries will receive their cash assistance from different towns in the province.
Yap promised he will pursue a bigger allocation for Tupad beneficiaries in the province.
Tupad is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days.
