3 NPA sumuko, 2 pa binigyan ng ayuda

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Tatlong miyembro ng Militar ng Bayan sa ilalim ng New People’s Army (NPA) ang personal na sumuko sa Police Regional Office-Cordillera, samantalang 2 rebel returnee naman ang tumanggap ng ayuda mula sa pamahalaan.
Nabatid kay Police BGen. R’win Pagkalinawan, regional director, ang mga sumuko kamakailan ay kinilala sa pangalang Alyas Balyer,25, Squad Leader under the Komite Larangan Guerilya (KLG), na nag-ooperate sa quad boundary ng Benguet, Abra, Mountain Province at Ilocos Sur. Kasama nitong isinuko ang kanyang KG9 Submachine Gun with nine (9) live ammunitions and MK2 Hand grenade.
Alyas Nanay,47, mother ni Balyer,ay active at supporter ng Milisya ng Bayan (MB) na nag-ooperate sa Tubo, Abra. Isinuko din nito ang kanyang Colt 45 with seven live ammunitions at MK2 hand grenade.
Ang ikatlo ay si Alyas Willy, 54, isang activist operating sa Baguio City na pumasok sa leftist group noong 1986 at naging lider ng iba’t ibang samahan sa lungsod at Benguet at naging miyembro ng Philippine Mediation Center, Justice Hall, Baguio City.
Ayon kay Pagkalinawan, dalawang former rebels sa Mt Province ang tumanggap ng cash incentives for livelihood assistance at kabayaran sa isinuko nilang armas sa pamahalaan.
Ang cash assistance ay personal na iniabot ni Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr., na may kauuang halagang P270,000.00 mula sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at sinaksihan nina Police Colonel Homer Penecilla, provincial director; DILG-Mountain Miguela Angwani; Rev. Fr. Marcial Castañeda, from the religious sector at AFP Representative 1Lt Keth Gabriel Paquibot, na ginanap kamakailan sa Bontoc, Mt.Province.
Isa sa the beneficiary ay tumanggap ng tsekeng P155,000 na ang P15,000.00 ay para immediate assistance; P50,000.00 for livelihood assistance, at P90,000.00 firearm remuneration, samantanag ang isa naman ay P15,000.00 para sa immediate assistance at P100,000.00 for firearm remuneration, sa kabuuang P115,000.
“The more firearms they surrender, the higher the compensation they will get. I hope that with the firearms remuneration and other government programs for peace and development, more rebels will be enticed to yield t o the government and take advantage of the many benefits waiting for them upon their surrender. The recent 3 rebels who surrendered this week will receive the same,” pahayag ni Pagkalinawan.
