3 Rebels Surrender In Benguet, Mt. Province

BAGUIO CITY (May 7, 2021) – Three communist rebels who reportedly were convinced to head back to a normal life, surrendered this week in Benguet and Mt. Province.
Continuous intelligence driven operations and series of negotiations ed to the voluntary surrender of a 62 year old farmer in Labaan, Paco, Lepanto, Mankayan town in Benguet, who was a Militia ng Bayan under Squad Lamay of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya AMPIS-ICRC (Abra-Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur-Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee), said Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee.
Relatives claimed that the 62 year old former rebel militia went underground for several years and was a member of an alleged communist front reportedly operating in Mankayan and adjacent towns.
Another Militia ng Bayan member —  a 57 year old barangay kagawad  — under the same guerilla front surrendered in Camp Major Dennis Molintas in Bangao, Bugias, Benguet.
The surrenderee oined the underground movement before being elected as a barangay official.
Also this week, a 26-year-old male, reportedly a squad leader of Squad Uno of Platoon “WILLIAM” of the Leonardo Pacsi Command of the CPP-NPA In Mt. Province voluntarily surrendered in Tadian, Mountain Province, along with a Grand Master Caliber .45 pistol loaded with seven bullets.
Lee vowed that the three new surrenderees will be processed to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
