4 MJ Plantations Reaching P13.4M Overran In Hinterland Tinglayan, Kalinga

La Trinidad, Benguet (May 29, 2021) – Authorities overran at least four marijuana plantations at hinterland Barangay Loccong, in Tinglayan, Kalinga Friday.

Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, who said that the raid was intelligence-driven, found 67,320 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants valued at P13,464,000.00.

No one was however chanced upon by authorities at the area of the four plantations totaling to 6,900 square meters on a rugged location, which were obviously taken cared of as a normal agricultural activity in the village.

Only a single MJ cultivator was so far chanced upon by authorities raiding plantations in the recent past.  Two weeks ago, a farmer in Atok, Benguet was held to face drug charges after he was caught at his vegetable garden cum MJ plantation tucked alongside with it.

Lee, who just recently took the helm of the Cordillera police,  earlier ordered a sustained drive against marijuana plantations in the highland region, even warning police chiefs of administrative sanctions for failing to curb illicit MJ production where they are stationed.
