LAMUT, IFUGAO – A more than five-kilometer road in this municipality will soon be improved through the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) of the government to benefit residents of nine barangays here.
Personnel of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and local officials in the province witnessed the ground breaking ceremony of the 5.8 kilometer improvement of the Lamut-Panopdopan-Jolowon Road under the 2018 CMGP for road repair, rehabilitation and Improvement recently.
CMGP is a partnership program between the DILG and Department of Budget and Management for provincial governments beginning fiscal year 2017 to partly address the seemingly poor state of provincial roads across the country and to improve the capacity of provinces in local road management and incorporating reforms in public financial management.
The CMGP is formerly the Kongkreto at Ayos na Lansangan: ang Daan Tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran (KALSADA) program.
Gov. Pedro G. Mayam-o thanked the attendees and encouraged them to work together in monitoring the implementation of the project that will benefit people in the province.
Mayor Mariano B. Buyagawan Jr. lauded the province and DILG for the project.
DILG-CAR Regional Director Mario Iringan encouraged the barangay officials and the beneficiaries to be the light in monitoring the project stressing that well-monitored projects are implemented properly.
DILG-Ifugao Officer-In-Charge Regina Elizabeth L. Mammag gave emphasis on the importance of a ground breaking ceremony and the presence of the officials and the community members.
“Your presence means that you feel that you are part of the project and that you know that the government is working for you. We encourage you to actively join in monitoring the project so that all the details and plans specified in the Program of Work (POW) will be implemented and completed,” Mammag said.
Punong Barangays Salvador O. Balmores and John P. Dulinayan of Mabato-bato and Lucban, respectively, expressed their utmost gratitude to the DILG and the provincial government of Ifugao and assured to support the project.
The province of Ifugao is at the Top 11 in the combined 2016-2017 Nationwide Infra Component Performance Ranking for the implementation of the CMGP and KALSADA Programs. PIA Ifugao with report from GYDA NAMINGIT, DILG-Ifugao / ABN
