BAGUIO CITY
In a commendable initiative, SK Federation President John Rhey Mananeng had the opportunity to orient and brief the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) of the Baguio BJMP – Male Dormitory on RA 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law). This event makes a significant opportunity to engage with selected PDLs, listen to their concerns, and take note of them for future collaboration with the city government. The ultimate goal is to ensure that public service remains inclusive and that no one is left behind.
The initiative was made possible through the efforts of the Metro Baguio Lions Club, represented by club secretary
Ma’am Mayghermaine Peduca, in collaboration with the Baguio BJMP-Male Dormitory, headed by City Jail Warden JCINSP John Wayland Lapon. SK Federation President Mananeng expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to educate the PDLs of the city. “This simple act exemplifies the principle that ‘Government is for the people, by the people, for the people,’” said Mananeng, quoting Abraham Lincoln.
Such initiatives underscore the importance of collaborative projects between civic organizations and government institutions, promoting awareness and inclusivity, and ensuring that every member of the community, irrespective of their circumstances, is given due attention and respect.
