Abra adopts stricker measures as province logs biggest single day new Covid cases

With Gov. Ma. Jocelyn Bernos back to work after 16 days in isolation, more stringent measures have been adopted to stop the spread of the coronavirus as the province logged a single day high of 63 Covid-19 cases.
Bernos made the announcement after the Abra Province Facebook page flashed that there are 63 new cases for the province from the 557 samples sent to be tested for April 8 which broke the 62 logged last week as the province has now 413 confirmed cases.
Bernos has ordered a liquor ban in the province which includes consumption and selling as gleaned from her Facebook wall.
The governor added in the vernacular: “those brave to sell alcohol in secret, you will have your time, since we have our way of knowing who you are, instead help us solve this problem.”
Gatherings that will have 10 people are not allowed like wakes, burials and any form of gambling. Bernos set a three day limit for wakes also. All religious activities that will have 10 people or more attendees are not allowed.
No indoor dining will be allowed during the month long general community quarantine. She implored restaurant owners to set up outdoor dining if they want to continue their business during the 30-day GCQ that ends April 30. She also asked offices, government and public not to use air conditioning instead, have the windows opened so that air will circulate.
All are required to wear face mask and shield every time one is outside of one’s residence. Barangay officials or task force members from the barangay, municipality and the province are told to make the necessary arrest of violators.
She also asked the wearing of face mask even inside the house since “one is allowed to go out to buy essentials (like food) or go to work and if he or she arrives, one is not sure if the person brought home the virus. Just make sure.” Bernos added: “I making this appeal to all people from Abra, stay home (all capital for emphasis). We need your cooperation, including those who hate me.”
