Achieve KSA in scouting Way

Knowledge, Skills and attitude are the attributes that add to the good personality of an individual. These things may not be earned in a formal education because it can be achieved through various means. Family, community, people are the major factors that contribute in teaching a child.
The formal educational system in our country allows extra-curricular activities that can contribute to the wholesome development of the child. These are being included in the parent’s orientation during their regular PTA meeting. Parents are encourage to allow their children to participate but with their full supervision. There are times that our young are pampered with academic activities that they no longer enjoy some other activities.
Scouting is one of the programs that uses experiential learning because according to the boy scout of the Philippines, young boys and girls are encouraged to teach themselves rather than being taught or instructed. It is a combination of fun and learning.
Furthermore, scouting is a good avenue to train future leaders, as stated in the commonwealth Act 111, signed by then President Manuel Quezon in 1936, the law states that the purpose of the BSP shall promote, through organization, and cooperation with other agencies, the ability of scouts to do things themselves and others, to train them in scout craft and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues using methods which are now in common use by scouts.
The Boy scout of the Philippines offers five ( 5 ) sectoral programs for young boys and girls, each with different and diverse programs, instructions and activities that are formed through a ladderized and progressive non-formal education system the primary objectives of the programs are twofold: the development of young boys and girls to be responsible citizens in the community and the society through proper upbringing and acquisition of values and the development of basic skills sets through the application of special and essential skills learned through the Merit Badge System (scouts.org. ph) these five programs can be explained further by the teachers in school.
With the programs of scouting stated above, the school encourage everyone to patronize scouting as one of the important programs in school. Adult leaders are also welcome to be members so they would assist the troop leaders in developing the learner’s knowledge, skills and attitude that will contribute to nation building.
