ALAY SA KABATAAN KICK-OFF PROJECT

“I shall visit your school!”
These were the parting words of Ms. Anna Liza Chan last April 8, 2022, when their group, Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands, came to visit Gavino Palaoag Elementary School. They donated fogging machines, thermal scanners, disinfectants, facemask, and food packs to Indaoac Elementary School and Gavino Palaoag Elementary School.
The first day of July (July 1, 2022) was full of smiles and happiness because Ms. Chan fulfilled her promise to visit our learners and our school, Indaoac Elementary School. They experienced passing through high and steep barangay roads as they approach the school. They have seen the natural scenery and feel the fresh air on the mountain top.
As they unpacked their baggage full of surprises, excitement and eagerness enveloped our learners’ eyes. A warm welcome and a short program embraced the group. The children were pleased as they tried the slippers laid on the ground.
They roam around to look for the size that will fit their tiny feet. Some have found their pair and some didn’t because they have bigger feet than the others. The group promised to buy a pair of slippers that will fit one of the learners’ feet.
Fifty-one learners from the school received school supplies and hygiene kits and most of them have a new pair of slippers. Facemasks and alcohol were also donated to the school for the learners to use. Umbrellas were also distributed to the lucky parents who attended the program.
The “Alay sa Kabataan” Project of the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands led by the president Ms. Anna Lisa Chan, was a historical event because the Kick-Off was held in Indaoac Elementary School.
“Ang aming programa ay para alalayan ang mga bata sa kanilang mga pangangailangan,” said Ms. Chan.
The children were so happy and showed their gratitude by singing a thank you song and unending goodbyes to everyone. A grateful heart from all of us, from Indaoac Elementary School.
As the Teacher In-Charge of Indaoac Elementary School, I wished and asked Ms. Chan about the possibilities of building a one-room school building through their organization and received an encouraging reply from her.
May your group flourish and be a blessing to the needy.
