Missing 4-year old girl in Apayao found in septic tank

PUDTOL, Apayao

Police are into deep on the death of a four-year old girl, whose lifeless body was found in a septic
tank in Barangay Mataguisi, Pudtol, Apayao on Tuesday. The girl, who was reported missing for two days, was said to be playing in the highway in Mataguisi Sunday afternoon but failed to go home to her family for dinner. Her worried family tried to find her until the Pudtol town police said, the young girl’s cadaver was found at a septic tank. The victim was reportedly not wearing any clothes when found, promoting suspicions from the family that she was taken, molested then killed.

Communist rebel killed in Apayao clash with military

LUNA, Apayao

A male communist guerilla was killed Sunday after he and 8 others including a high-ranking leader of the Cagayan province’s underground communist movement fought with soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 17th Infantry Battalion in Flora town in Apayao. The military named the fatality as Roger Antonio alias “Ka Bernard”, a native of Barangay Peru, Lasam town in Cagayan. Soldiers were reportedly tipped off about the presence of Antonio’s NPA unit, including Edgar Bautista, alias “Ka Simoy”, leader of the “Komiteng Probinsya Cagayan ng Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley” (KRCV), who though fled during the 5-minute gunbattle with the soldiers.

An M16 rifle with an M203 grenade launcher attachment, 8 pieces of an 40MM projectile, a jungle pack, a commercial radio, an improvised flashlight, medical paraphernalia and personal belongings was seized from the fallen communist rebel after the brief firefight.
