Amid “Misencounter”, Cordillera Cops, PDEA Cordillera Vow Tighter Link VS Illegal Drugs

BAGUIO CITY (February 26, 2021) – The Cordillera police and PDEA-Cordillera renewed even a tighter commitment for operational and tactical support to each other against their common battle versus illegal drugs in the highland region.
This amid the apparent “tension” between the two law enforcement organizations after the “mis-encounter” at the Ever Gotesco mall in Quezon City where two cops and a PDEA agent were killed and others wounded in the exchange of “friendly fire” during a sting operation.
PDEA-Cordillera Regional Director Gil Castro said their recommitment of cooperation on February 26, 2021 at the regional police headquarters at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet is their assurance to the public that they are not losing sight of improving the drug situation for a better and safer Cordillera.
“PDEA and the PNP can develop their own concept plans as initial stage of the anti-drug operation, as early as this stage, the operation is fully documented and coordinated,” written in the joint statement of the two regional law enforcement organizations.
The statement also stressed that in the negation phase requiring tactics, PDEA Cordillera and the Cordillera police will be joining together to breach the stronghold of the drug targets.
“So it would be almost impossible, operational and tactical, na magbabangaan ang mga tropa namin” Castro said.
The two regional law enforcement groups stated to also keep our lines open and vowed to always sit together, fight together and win together in the anti-drug war in the Cordillera.
A PDEA agent from Lagawe, Ifugao was among those killed while another PDEA agent from Buguias, Benguet was also seriously wounded in that unfortunate “mis-encounter”.
Showing interoperability at work, narcotics agents led by PDEA Kalinga and Kalinga police together with PDEA Region 2 raided an almost P8 million worth of marijuana plantation on February 24-26, 2021 in Loccong,  Tinglayan town in Kalinga Province.
