Baguio-Benguet preparation for the rainy season

This 2nd quarter of the year, we have heard and seen news from tri-media and social media of the road accidents that caused grief and diminished family members. Now different government agencies were alerted and cautious under their jurisdiction of work. Is it human error? The driver is either sleepy or drunk. Is it a cause of nature? Heavy rain makes the road slippery and rocks, soil and trees fall. Is it the training and seminars? Lack of these makes a person unaware of updated rules and regulations.

Benguet Gov. Crescencio Pacalso also added that “Preparation for rainy season shall take place now before the school starts this June. The facilitator of Brigada Eskwela this coming week should also look and check if the school have a proper first aid kit in case of emergency, sturdy ceilings and etc. Anyway, Benguet PDRRMO had already conducted trainings and seminars in different schools for any type of calamity.”

Meanwhile, the P109-M building of Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Office at Motorpool Compound in Lower Rock Quarry have five storeys plus one basement good for office, seminars and trainings, but its main purpose is an evacuation center. CDRRMC Officer III Yolanda Munar said that the P70-M is the 1st phase of the said building. However, her office is hopeful for the 2nd phase which is worth P39-M to be released this year to finally finish its design construction.

Prevention is better than cure. As concerned citizens, we have all the rights to involve ourselves in what is happening to our society. You cannot say that “I don’t Care” because you are part of this society, a resident and a citizen of the state. If you do not care, then by all means, please, you are free to leave and prove us that there is a place where you can do whatever you want without prohibition.

Accident now on roads are rampant so the guest for this Sunday on the Radio Program of Benguet Province in iKit ng Bayan of 98.7 ZRadio every Sunday 12noon to 1pm is the Benguet Province Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office for their preparation this rainy season and their participation this coming brigade-eskwela. So for your questions or concerns on their operation and some other related or out of the topic issues that we may tackle soon with the appropriate office and personnel, please feel free to text me on my text line number 09101484600.

The government has done their part and as a citizen we shall help ourselves on contributing our strength if we do not have money to make our society a good place to live in. Volunteer yourself this coming rainy season on rescue team or during the Brigada-Eskwela next week rather than nagging. But with our safety, we shall always include our Lord Jesus Christ when we get in or out of our home as the Bible says (KJV) 1Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he care for you.”
