Baguio biting chill drops to 10.6 degrees

BAGUIO CITY (February 1, 2020) – Baguio’s biting chill further dropped to 10.6 degress Celcius early Saturday morning, the lowest temperature so far this year.

This coupled with moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast, state weather bureau Pagasa said, fanning the chilly weather in the highland city.

On Friday morning, Baguio residents woke up with a bone-tingling 11.2 degrees Celcius. Pagasa said Baguio City and the rest of the Cordillera region will even experience cloudy skies with light rains, attributing it to the Northeast Monsoon, though temperature will rise up in Baguio up to 21 degrees Celcius at its hottest midday.

Baguio’s coldest morning on record was at 6.2 degrees Celsius in February 1961. Pagasa added that Baguio City’s chill might even drop further from Saturday’s temperature readings, hence warning residents to parry off its effects like warm clothing and being healthy.

This especially with the worldwide scare of the nCov, that according to public health officials could thrive better in colder areas, though not a single case of the dreaded virus has yet been confirmed in the highland region.
