Baguio City included in ECQ extension till May 15(as new 8 cases reported)

BAGUIO CITY (April 25, 2020) – Settling down the confusion if Baguio City is included in the May 15 extension of the ECQ, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said, the highland city, though a chartered city politically different from Benguet, is included in the National IATF
recommenders to maintain its ECQ status.
Citing the National InterAgency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, Magalong explained that geographically being part of Benguet province, Baguio City remains in ECQ until mid May.
Though as announced earlier, the ECQ pronouncement is subject to change in six provinces including Benguet Province by April 30, 2020.
Magalong meanwhile welcomed the recent development saying, the city’s ongoing sectoral planning activities to come up with post-ECQ recovery and transition plan anchored on the gradual easing up and reopening of essential economic activities will go on as scheduled.
Current ECQ operations and COVID-10 control systems will continue to be pursued and improved as seen fit, the mayor vowed.
