Baguio Creative Festival 2019 featuring local crafts and arts

BAGUIO CITY- The local artists, traditional carvers and craft makers united for the opening of the “Ibagiw, Baguio Creative City Festival 2019”. The festival was united with the Department of Tourism (DOT) cordillera. The city government uses the historic diplomat hotel for the featuring of the local craft and arts. The festival will be open on November 14, 2019 and it will be end on November 24, 2019.
According to Karlo Altamonte of the Baguio arts and crafts council Inc. (BACCI), This festival revoulve around this four competition the weaving, basketry, wood carving and metal crafting, on the day of the festival the visitors will spot the artist creating their arts and craft makers timber their traditional products with the cultural dancers and artists.
The following part of the festival is the opening gala on November 16, 2019. The Ibagawi competition crafts, folk art, and creative market place. “Re-imagining Baguio: Installation Art and Murals Exhibit, Short Film Competition, Jamming on a G-String: A fashion show and live concert, IBagiw: Culture bearers of Baguio: A Photo Exhibit, and Sunsets at the Courtyard: Live musical performances by local and visiting artists” Altamonte said. Ibagawi comes from the word “BAGIW” or centuries ago, “I” means from Baguio or of Baguio.
Altamonte said that the winne of the festival competition will be announced during the closing gala, the artwork of the artists will be displayed and auctioned for the buyers.
