BCPO’S COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SAFETY YIELDS A SAFE AND PEACEFUL YULETIDE CELEBRATION

BAGUIO CITY

In a remarkable achievement, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), led by City Director PCol. Ruel D. Tagel, successfully maintained a zero crime index throughout the New Year ’s celebration, from December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025. This milestone is a direct result of the BCPO’s commitment to public safety through early planning and preparations as well as strict enforcement of safety and security measures, ensuring a peaceful countdown
celebration in the city. It also highlights the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts of the police force who worked
round-the clock to secure the city.

For days leading up to the New Year, the BCPO operated without yuletide break, with officers continuously
maintaining traffic flow, implementing crime prevention measures, and ensuring public order. Their relentless vigilance were pivotal in maintaining a calm and orderly environment, allowing both residents and visitors to enjoy the holiday season without fear. The zero crime index during the New Year ’s countdown underscores the effectiveness of enhanced safety and security protocols.

These included boosting police presence and visibility in crime-prone areas, conducting targeted patrols, and early activation of specialized task forces. Additionally, the Security Control Center was mobilized to strengthen law enforcement, raise public awareness on crime prevention, and strictly enforce laws, especially against violent and property crimes. The BCPO City Investigation and Detective Management Unit (CIDMU) reported significantly lower crime levels during the countdown, with zero incidents of index crime and only three recorded non-index crimes: RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act), frustrated homicide, and violations under the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 (RA 8485).

This contributed to an overall sense of security in the city during the festive period. “As the public returns to their normal routines, we will continue to uphold our commitment to maintaining peace and order by intensifying police presence, ensuring smooth traffic flow, and implementing effective crime prevention measures to guarantee public order. Kasi ngayong 2025, ang gusto ng Pulis, ligtas ka!” said PCol. Tagel.
