On Monday, Benguet Congressman Eric Go Yap filed House Bill No. 10450 entitled, “An Act Separating the Sitio of Dalicno from Barangay Ampucao, Municipality of Itogon, Province of Benguet and Constituting it into a Separate and Independent Barangay to be known as Barangay Dalicno.”
“Since the beginning, our purpose is to bring the programs and services of the government closer to the people of Benguet. The days of long lines and hours of travels from far-flung areas to the capital just to seek assistance are over. We now have a system in which we bring the social services within their reach, as we personally go to every municipality and barangay to also consult with them,” said Yap.
“We have proposed HB 10450, separating Sitio Dalicno from Barangay Ampucao and constituting it as a barangay, to further enhance the delivery of basic services to the residents in sitio.
Many residents have also raised the issue of the sitio being distant from Ampucao, inhibiting them from attending social activities like general assemblies, dialogs, barangay fiesta, meetings, trainings, etc.,” the solon stated. “We have consulted this with our officials and kailyan in Barangay Ampucao and they have expressed their support in the passage of this measure into law.
There are also signed resolutions and petitions from groups and residents of the sitio in support of this. The sitio has more than 2,000 inhabitants which makes it qualified to be constituted as a Barangay,” Yap added.
