Benguet cops burned P13.2M of marijuana

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total pf P13.2 million worth of marijuana plants and 10 sacks of dried marijuana were discovered by joints operatives of Benguet Provincial Police Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at the forested area of in Sitio Ganga, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet.

Police Colonel Elmer Ragay, provincial director, said the operatives while uprooting P3.2 million worth of marijuana plants they discovered ten sacks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks weighing 110 kilograms with DDB value of P10 million. The said marijuana were burned on site.

Meanwhile, a High-Value Individual (HVI) on illegal drugs was arrested identified as Eric Laurian Tiangga, 33, a native of Bakun, Benguet, and resident of Windy Hill, Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet was captured in Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet in a buy-bust operation, while another drug personality Jason Vida Alejandro was arrested for possession of illegal drugs when he was cornered along the intersection of Balsigan and Palispis Highway, Baguio City.

Confiscated evidence from Tiangga was one sachet of suspected shabu, Php3,500.00 boodle money, and one Motorola touch screen cellular phone, while three transparent plastic containing suspected dried marijuana leaves were taken from Alejandro.

Ragay said, the Benguet PPO continues to strengthen the operations on illegal drug activities in the province and the public is encouraged to stop engaging in all illegal activities and instead stay at home to avoid any violation and help prevent the spread of the Corona virus.
