BENGUET PROVINCIAL MINING REGULATORY BOARD SPECIAL MEETING
Gov. Melchor Diclas, co-chaiperson of the body, presides the meeting held on July 16 at Provincial Capitol. Officials of Benguet Corp. (BC), represented by Engr. Valeriano Bongalos, Jr. VP-Resident Manager and lawyer Froilan Lawilao, and Dontog Manganese Pocket Miners Association (DOMAPMA) represented by its president Nicholas Tibangwa and Allan Sabiano , agree for another round of talks to settle mining issues.
The meeting was in response to BC’s request for a stakeholders meeting to discuss alleged illegal mining activities in Sitio Dalicno, Barangay Ampucao, Itogon. Hours later, Fay Apil, Regional Director of Mines and Geosciences Bureau- Cordillera (MGB-CAR), chairperson of the body, joins in the discussion and witnessed by a number of local pocket miners and operators.
