BFP-Baguio launches fire prevention month

The Bureau of Fire Protection- Baguio City Fire Station started the Fire Prevention Month through an advocacy rally for a fire-free and fire-safe nation on March 1, 2018. The rally which begun 5am at the Baguio Convention Center was headed by Regional Director F/SSupt. Lilibeth Q. Simangan.
With this year’s theme “Ligtas na Pilipinas ang ating hangad, pag-iingat sa sunog ay sa sarili ipatupad,” the bureau will conduct series of activities and massive information campaign on fire safety.
According to City Executive Senior Fire Officer Jayson Camero, they are always ready to respond in any calamities. He added that they have programs such as conducting of fire safety seminar, organization and training of fire brigade, fire drills and ugnayan in barangays to keep the city safe.
Part of the month-long celebration is the “Berong Bombero sa Paaralan,” a fire safety awareness campaign in all elementary schools on March 3-9, and Bike for a Safe Nation, a cycling activity for cycling enthusiasts on March 10.
Activities such as Fire Prevention Games and Contest, to be participated by elementary and high school students that is composed of five categories: drawing, essay writing, photo contest, poster making and battle of the bands, have been lined up.
The BFP reminds and urges the public to become watchful of activities that may cause fire especially now that the summer season is fast approaching. KRISTINE MAE L. PASYAN, UB Intern / ABN
