United Kingdom’s ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce highlighted the partnership between the British Council and the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the transnational education (TNE) program before a group of about 180 students at the Saint Louis University (SLU) in Baguio on March 1, 2018.
SLU is one of the 10 universities in the country chosen to participate in the program, along with other premiere universities.
According to the British Council’s website, the 10 universities have been chosen since the project begun in 2016. Other universities are Ateneo de Manila University, Bicol University, Central Luzon State University, De La Salle University, Miriam College, Silliman University, University of the Philippines, University of San Carlos, and University of Santo Tomas.
The 10 universities are given capacity building activities like monthly learning session for them to meet the requirement of their partner UK university in order to attain a high-quality international higher education.
The British ambassador assured that the degrees under the program will be internationally recognized. The graduates under this program are assured to get the same accreditation once they get to UK.
SLU is looking forward in complying with the requirements to get the validation from the Coventry University, the partner UK university.
As part of the program, SLU will send faculty members who will be part of the program in UK to train and improve the school facility and infrastructures.
The university will rehire jobless teachers who were affected by the K12 program.
It will also give chance to undergraduate students who wish to continue their studies under this program.
Pruce is looking forward for more years to partner with the Philippines in reaching out other parts of the country.
He also assured that UK is a dynamic and diverse country that will ensure bright future to those students who will comply and take part of the program. LALAINE T. PAYAY, UB Intern / ABN
