CITY RE-BIDS WRIGHT PARK PROJECT

BAGUIO CITY

The city government has stopped the construction of two multi-purpose buildings at the Summer Capital’s iconic Wright Park due to the contractor’s failure to deliver his commitments as the winning bidder of the projects. City environment parks management office (Cepmo) head Rhenan Diwas said the structures would house about 40 stables for horses, quarters for the pony boys, community hall for Lualhati barangay, and more than 100 commercial stalls for vendors in the area. “Main purpose of the projects is really to improve Wright Park and provide for the needs of the pony boys and their horses at magkaroon ng kaayusan o proper zoning sa mga commercial stalls na nakikita natin sa area,” he disclosed.

With the termination of the erring contractor’s contract, Diwas said the project, worth around P80-million, will go
through a re-bidding process all over again for the continuation and completion of the multi-purpose buildings.
“What we can assure the public is that we are doing our best para magawa at macomply lahat iyong mga necessary na processes para sa re-bidding nito at para matuloy iyong mga proyekto,” Diwas stressed. He pointed out that
temporary stables for the horses have been put up in an area near one of the building’s construction sites.

Upon completion of the bidding process which usually takes two to three months, Diwas said Mayor Benjamin
Magalong and City Buildings and Architecture Office head Johnny Degay will then issue a notice to proceed, where project duration of one of the structures is 257 days while the other is 210 days barring any unforeseen circumstances.
