CJH barangay segregation fast-tracked

There is light at the end of the tunnel. Mayor Mauricio Domogan met with John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC), Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and barangay officials in a coordination meeting at
Camp John Hay (CJH) Bell House to discuss the segregation of 14 barangays within the CJH Reservation on October 18.
Both JHMC president and CEO Allan Garcia and BCDA representative Fernando Gallardo expressed their sincere
and full support to the immediate resolution of this issue that has been dragging on for several years now.
With their declaration, the mayor is hopeful that this problem of segregating the barangays within the CJH reservation will be resolved by the end of the year at the earliest in the most simple and legal manner possible.
This was seconded by Councilor and Liga ng Mga Barangay president Michael Lawana who expressed confidence that with the united efforts of all those involved, this issue would finally be put to rest once and for all.
The mayor directed JHMC surveyor Bobby Akia to finish the CJH Reservation survey before the end of the year so
the legalities for the proclamation of segregation can immediately proceed since it would need the signature of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, according to Gallardo.
Domogan, Garcia and Gallardo met privately after the meeting to discuss and brainstorm the most simple and legal way that would be needed for the proclamation of segregation after the survey is completed.
The mayor asked Akia if he needs more help or have any problems in completing the task of surveying the CJH reservation so he can assign city government surveyors and even police personnel to assist the latter if needed.
He stressed that the segregation process must be finished first before the settling of conflicting claims with the agreed upon condition that the forest reservation is identified and preserved even if this is found to be part of a barangay. GABY KEITH / ABN
