Cops arrest 7 in series of drug operations

Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) successively arrested seven individuals for violation of illegal drugs during a separate police operation. Result of one of the significant operation conducted is the capture of a High-Value Individual (HVI) identified as Jejomar Sumang,Sumo, farmer, who was arrested at Viloria Street, Purok 4.

Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga on March 11, 2020 after a search warrant was implemented. Recovered from his possession were one (1) blue sando bag containing suspected marijuana leaves and stalks, one (1) transparent plastic containing marijuana leaves and stalk, ground marijuana leaves and stalk, small blue plastic containing ground marijuana leaves weighing more or less 120 grams with a dangerous drug board value of Php14,400 and assorted drug paraphernalia.

In a recent operation conducted, Eduardo Oyando aka Edward Valdez, 29, was apprehended in the afternoon of March 13, 2020 in Purok 4, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga. Confiscated from his possession was one (1) plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and buy-bust money.

Moreover, five persons involved in drugs also landed in jail after they were separately arrested by the police. Suspect Thawadi Sameh Jr Ruiz, 31, a resident of Dappig Purok 5, San Agustin, Isabela was arrested at Yakal Street, Poblacion North, Lagawe, Ifugao on March 11, 2020 while Bill Udquin Galvin was held in Purok 4, Better Living, Crystal Dale, Bakakeng Central, Baguio City on March 12, 2020.

Confiscated from Ruiz were Php100, 000.00 boodle money and more or less 80 grams of suspected shabu while one (1) plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money, boodle money, drug paraphernalia, and two (2) cellphones were seized from Galvin.

Other arrested individuals were Whesly Dulawan Tobiagon, who was cornered in Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet, Ruben Abad Bergano , apprehended in Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet while Jessie Marcos Paleyan , caught in Upper Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.

Along with the arrest of Tobiagon were two (2) plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, Php1,000.00 buy-bust money and one (1) Mitsubishi Delica with plate number ZFD-903 while two (2) transparent sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money and one (1) cellular phone were seized from Bergano. Paleyan also yielded two (2) transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and buy-bust money.

The 7 suspects are now facing criminal charges for violations of R.A. 9165 otherwise known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PROCOR leadership instructed all police units to sustain this momentum and run after illegal drugs in urban centers as well as in the countryside. “PROCOR police will continue to hit hard and arrest all individuals behind the manufacture, cultivation and trafficking of illegal drugs in support of the national anti-drug campaign,” PBGen R’WIN SA PAGKALINAWAN said.
