CORDILLERA REGION MOURNS THE DEATH OF TWO PUBLIC SERVANTS

An employee of the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera Regional Field Office and a young farmer-partner were killed while another employee is still in critical condition following a vehicular accident along the National Highway in Barangay Bugallon Proper in Ramon, Isabela at dawn on December 8, 2022. In the initial investigation of the Ramon Municipal Police Station, the three individuals aboard a DA-CAR KADIWA marked wing van were travelling south along the national highway when suddenly a Toyota Vios hit the wing van which then hit a trailer truck.

The two passengers of the wing van identified as Karen Briones, farmer member of the Barangay Loakan Organic Farmers Association and Addisson La-ao of DA-CAR died on the spot while the driver identified as Tommy Timoteo was rushed to the nearest hospital and is in critical condition. They came from the province of Apayao and conducted a KADIWA event and were headed back home to Baguio City and the DA-CAR Regional Office when the accident transpired.

“A vehicular accident in Ramon, Isabela claimed the lives of a personnel of the Department of Agriculture-
Cordillera and a ‘farmer-partner’ on December 8, 2022” DA-CAR Regional Technical Director Danilo Daguio said in a social media post. Meanwhile, the driver of the car that hit the wing van escaped the crime scene but was eventually caught by police officers. The police said that driver of the car identified as Allan Mark Barroza was under the influence of liquor when the accident occurred.
