Some 18 Baguio journalists, mostly photographers will stage a month-long photo exhibit at the Luisa’s Café starting August 17. Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club president Thomas Picana said that each photographer will have their works on display during the 48 day exhibit featuring their works as photojournalists. Cover to cover is actually a “publication (newspaper/ magazine) type exhibition were photos are either for headline or the front page, city, regions, people, lifestyle and culture, features and sports” said Picana, a photojournalist and the founding president of the Baguio Press Photographers and Videographers Club.
Noted and award-winning Baguio photojournalists like Andy Zapata, Jr. of the Philippine Star, Dave Leprozo of Business Mirror, Harley Palangchao, Mauricio Victa, Edgardo Espiritu of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin’s Zaldy Comanda and JJ Landingin, Roland Rabang, Noli Gabilo and Richard Balonglong are some of the artists whose works will be featured. Their works that graced the pages of national dailies and local publications will be on display – framed poster sized photos.
Headlines like latest events or even tragedies are expected to be the headlines photos. Human interests, culture like festivals and people will be photos for page 2, 3 with the last page to be used for sports to be handled by former
SunStar editor Roderick Osis. Picana said that raised funds will be used for the club’s general welfare fund. The BCBC is a media organization for journalists covering Baguio, Benguet and the Cordillera region. It is behind the tourism oriented Lucky Summer Visitor and media camp and recently the revival of the eco-walk, an award winning civil society organization environment oriented program founded after the 1990 killer earthquake.
