Dads tell residents to support census

The city council, in a resolution, is encouraging all residents in the city to fully cooperate in the ongoing census on housing and population conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and to give accurate information in order to ensure the credibility of the national census results.
Councilor Vladimir Cayabas, main author of the resolution, underscored the results of the survey shall provide planners, executives, and policymakers with fresh and updated population and housing data that will serve as a basis in their social and economic development plans, measures, and programs that will empower various sectors and local communities.
“The data produced by the PSA will serve as the official and controlling statistics of the government. The same data will also be used by the private sector and non-government organizations as well as those who are involved in research and development,” Cayabas added.
The councilor stressed that collection of accurate data and correct census count is imperative, thus the need to encourage citizens to support the conduct of the census.
By virtue of Proclamation 928 (s. 2020), May 2020 was declared as national Census Month with May 1 as the census reference date. However, in light of the covid-19 pandemic, the conduct of the national survey was moved from May to September of this year.
On March 13, the Office of the President issued Memorandum Circular No. 76 enjoining all sectors to support, cooperate with, and provide assistance to the PSA and the National Census Coordinating Board to ensure the successful conduct of the said census.
