DILG calls on LGUs to intensify PDITR strategy, vaccination

BAGUIO CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reiterates its call to local government units to intensify their PDITR (Prevent – Detect – Isolate – Treat-Reintegrate) strategy and vaccination activities with the current uptrend of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
DILG – Cordillera OIC Regional Director Araceli San Jose said LGUs are allowed to implement stricter health and safety measures or granular lockdowns, as deemed necessary, while an aggressive vaccination program will ensure that eligible population can get their protection at the soonest possible time.
In the implementation of more aggressive PDITR strategy, San Jose reminded LGUs that Memorandum Circular No. 91 series of 2021 signed by Secretary Eduardo Año which was downloaded to them will serve as their guidelines.
To assist LGUs in case detection, San Jose shared that the DILG has hired 294 contact tracers who are deployed across the region. Thirty nine are assigned in Abra, 25 in Apayao, 70 in Baguio City, 70 in Benguet, 18 in Ifugao, 40 in Kalinga and 32 in Mountain Province. These contact tracers are hired up to the end of this year.
The country is currently encountering surge in COVID – 19 cases where daily new confirmed cases are already over the 20,000 mark.
As of September 5 data of the Department of Health –Cordillera, the region has a total of 56,893 COVID-19 cases with 5,557 active cases; 50,303 recoveries and 1,000 deaths.
DOH – CAR also confirmed the detection of 25 COVID – 19 delta variant cases in the region as of Sept. 5. Of the cases, 12 are recorded in Baguio, five each in Apayao and Benguet, and one each in Abra, Ifugao and Kalinga.
On Health Care Utilization Rate, the region is at high risk with average HCUR of 81.34 %. Per geographical area Apayao, Baguio City and Benguet are under critical risk while Abra, Ifugao and Kalinga are under high risk. Mountain Province is under low risk.
