DOST PHIVOLCS CALLS FOR EARTHQUAKE RESILENT BUILDING IN BAGUIO CITY

To promote this Advocacy, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Institute of Volcanology
and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLS) Launch the ” Baguio City Ground Shaking Hazard Maps (BCGSHM).
It is a compilation of maps that provides information on the levels of ground motion and site response
during strong earthquakes base on the characteristics of the underlying soil and rock layers and the affects
of specific topography, in this case, mountainous terrain such as Baguio City.

These maps can be a reference for structural engineers in designing and constructing earthquake – resilient buildings and infrastructure in Baguio City. With Dr. Rhommel N. Grutas – Supervising Science Research specialist DOST-PHIVOLS, from External Government Agencies, External Sec Organization, from Baguio City, and Academe,. September 8, 2022 held at Fortune seafood restaurant, Baguio City.
